Queensland Water Commission set to regulate carpet cleaners.
A series of meetings were held in conjunction with the National Upholstery and Carpet Cleaners Association (NUCCA) in the South East districts of Queensland to discuss the drought exit strategy and the plan to regulate the carpet cleaning industry. Col Nation of WoolSafe Australia was in attendance at all three meetings in a show of support for NUCCA
The meeting was called to seek the input from the carpet cleaning industry professionals who were recognised as being commercial users of water. The outcome of the meeting was that NUCCA is planning to submit a water usage strategy statement on behalf of the industry.
After looking at the strategy put forward by the exterior pressure cleaning industry, it is not going to be too difficult to put forward a workable solution for the Queensland Water Commission.
Australia already has a carpet cleaning standard (A/NZ Standard 3733/1995) and it gives attention to environmentally responsible practices including water usage. Australia also has a recognised qualification for carpet cleaners (Certificate III in Asset Maintenance- Carpet Cleaning operations). This documents assessment criteria to achieve the qualification. It includes responsible water usage and environmental awareness as part of the Australian recognised qualification for carpet cleaners which is the premier qualification for membership of the WoolSafe Certified Operator Network in Australia.
By choosing a Woolsafe Certified operator, consumers are not only getting the very best care for their beautiful wool carpets, but are being environmentally responsible as well.

WoolSafe Australia congratulates the efforts of it's founder Mr Patrick Burgess who saw the need to represent that group of people and businesses that are not currently being represented effectively. www.individualcleaner.org
